Bringing Vegesack's Small Business Community to Life through Enticing Visual Mediums
After placing 2nd in the Innovation Competition, the SMP Media Center was able to create it's newest Community Impact Project- SMP Highlights... Vegesack!
By creating promotional videos for the small businesses that make up Bremen-Vegesack, we hope to bring new faces to our corner of the city, connect with our neighbors, and broaden our own, as well as other's horizons.

Durch die Erstellung von Werbevideos für die Kleinunternehmen Bremen-Vegesack hoffen wir, neue Gesichter in unsere Ecke der Stadt zu bringen, mit unseren Nachbarn in Kontakt zu treten und unseren eigenen und den Horizont anderer zu erweitern.
Our Mission -- Unsere Mission
At the SMP Media Center we cultivate content to reach broad and diverse markets in an enticing manner, and in the age where all communications are becoming digital; this is a vital asset. Social media and digital marketing is taking the business arena by storm, and while major enterprises can quickly adapt to compete, local, smaller businesses might often find themselves needing to catch up with the new trendy ways of sending their message to their target markets.
This is where we come in!
The students of the SMP Media center have gained lots of experience producing and propagating engaging media materials for clubs and centers on campus.
Now it’s our turn to use our skills to help out our community. We want to dedicate or experience and learning towards improving the marketing of the neighboring small businesses of Vegesack.
Our project will help build a fun, exciting and modern image for local businesses on relevant social media platforms. Word of mouth is simply not enough, potential customers need engaging visuals to pull them in, to spark their interest. By producing such materials and posting them to heavily visited sites such as TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram, we will help small business reach the ears of the young and old alike— the key here is to show rather than tell.
Im SMP Media Center erstellen wir Inhalte, um auf ansprechende Art und Weise, breite und vielfältige Märkte zu erreichen. Gerade in Zeiten, in denen die gesamte Kommunikation digitalisiert wird, ist dies ein wichtiger Punkt. Social Media und digitales Marketing erobern die Geschäftswelt im Sturm. Während sich große Unternehmen schnell an den Wettbewerb anpassen können, müssen lokale, kleinere Unternehmen häufig die neuen Wege der Werbung selbst erlernen, um ihre Botschaft an ihre Zielmärkte zu senden.
Hier kommen wir ins Spiel!
Die Studenten des SMP Media Centers haben viel Erfahrung in der Erstellung und Verbreitung ansprechender medialer Materialien für Clubs und Zentren auf dem Campus gesammelt.
Jetzt sind wir an der Reihe, unsere Fähigkeiten einzusetzen, um unserer Gemeinschaft zu helfen. Wir möchten uns der Verbesserung der Vermarktung der benachbarten Kleinunternehmen von Vegesack widmen und dadurch lernen sowie Erfahrungen sammeln.
Unser Projekt wird dazu beitragen, ein unterhaltsames, aufregendes und modernes Image für lokale Unternehmen auf relevanten Social-Media-Plattformen aufzubauen. Mundpropaganda ist heutzutage nicht mehr ausreichend. Potenzielle Kunden benötigen ansprechende Bilder, um sie anzulocken und ihr Interesse zu wecken. Indem wir solche Materialien produzieren und auf stark besuchten Plattformen, wie TikTok, YouTube und Instagram veröffentlichen, helfen wir kleinen Unternehmen, die Ohren von Jung und Alt gleichermaßen zu erreichen. Der Schlüssel hier, ist visuell zu veranschaulichen, anstatt zu erzählen.

As a Bachelors student at Jacobs University, we are required to participate in a Community Impact Project (CIP). Such projects are intended to help us develop personally, professionally, and academically, as well as draw us closer to our fellow residents in Bremen. This CIP group, in coordination with the SMP Media Center, has organized a project to translate relevant COVID-19 related news into vital languages for the greater Bremen community, such as: Russian, Turkish, Arabic, French, English, and Romanian. We are also working in coordination with the LVG and AFS in Bremen in order to spread and promote the important and research-supported public health messages.
